That’s it! It’s official! Columbia College called this morning [July 16th, 2010] and offered me a full time Web Developer position.

I am so excited to be joining this team.

Update 7-19-2013: That’s it! It’s Official! I turned in my resignation letter today and my last day with Columbia College will be July 31st, 2013, after just over 3 years spent with the College.

Full Time Business Owner

As of August 1st, 2013 I will be working for myself full time on my web design business. This has been my dream since I was 6 years old, and realizing it’s real has blown my mind.

Long History with Columbia College

Of course, Columbia College and I have a long history. My mother & father both attended there, I attended there, my best friend, my brother-in-law, and so many more friends all attended CC!

The Columbia College Connections even did an article on me. 🙂
Columbia College remembered: Ellis Benus ’06.

First Speech Communication Graduate

Dr. Lisa Ford-Brown and Dr. Amy Darnell, with the help of another student and myself pioneered the Speech Communication Degree which never existed in Columbia College history prior to our graduation in 2006!

Child in the College!

When my mother and father attended Columbia College simultaneously, one took day classes and the other evening classes so they would pass my stroller in the hallways. Mom joked CC should have given me an honorary degree since I attended both her’s and my dad’s classes. Plus, when there was still a pool, that’s where I learned to swim! But there’s a Student Center sitting on top of the old pool now… It’s much prettier!

First Day

Regardless, my first day will be July 26th, 2010 and I’m super pumped.

Last Day

Update 7-19-2013: My last day with Columbia College was July 31st, 2013.

Benefits and Perks

Other than the fact that the people on the CC Web Team seem amazing from my interactions with them here are some more things I’m really looking forward to:

Update 7-19-2013: The CC web team were, and will always be, awesome people and my valued friends and companions. Leaving them, and my other co-workers at Columbia College, was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

Bicycling to work (3.7 miles one way)
Update 7-19-2013: Walk 10 feet to work.
Showering on site (the awesome CC gym has a full shower / locker room facility)
Update 7-19-2013: Never showering… ew… or just showering and working out at home. 🙂
Free college for Myself, my wife and any future children
Update 7-19-2013: It hurt to lose this one, but hopefully the kids will get scholarships, and we will start saving for their education. Also, in the next 16 years, I just might go back to CC.
Working less than a mile from my wife
Update 7-19-2013: Working 10 feet from my wife.
Working at the same company with my best friend & his wife
Working less than 700 yards from our Church (Lunch with the church staff & drum practice over lunch)
Update 7-19-2013: 4 miles from the church, but working from home still rocks.

So, needless to say, I’m very excited and feel extremely blessed.

Update 7-19-2013: I’m still very excited, and still feel extremely blessed!

Thank You for everyone’s prayers.
