If the below article helps, consider buying a BioThane Super Belt from me. 🙂
It seems Gmail will no longer allows the easy “Treat As Alias” setup.
But you can still send email using Gmail’s SMTP servers, it’s just a manual setup now!
- Open Gmail
- Go to Settings
- Accounts and Import
- Send mail as: section
- Click Add another email address you own
The familiar Add Email Address in Gmail Popup appears:
Type in the New Email Address you want to Add to Gmail
and Click Next Step
Instead of seeing the old “Use Gmail’s Servers to Send mail” you are now required to enter SMTP settings.
No Problem! We can still use Gmail’s SMTP Server!
SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
Username: Your gmail email
Password: This is NOT your Gmail password!
For the password, you have to generate an Application Specific Password
Generating a Google Application Specific Password
Go to http://Accounts.Google.com/
Click the Security Tab: https://www.google.com/settings/security
Click App Passwords Settings
Note: If you do not see this you need to turn on Google 2 Step Verification.
You will have to enter your Google Account Password to access this area.
Click the Select app drop menu
Type Gmail and Click Generate
A New Popup appears with the Generated App Password for your “device.”
Copy the Password. Click Done.
Paste the Password into the SMTP Gmail Window. Click Add Account.
Gmail will send the same confirmation email they always have with the Verification Code.
Copy and paste that into the final window and you’re done!
